http://dhamma.ru/canon/mn/mn118.htm

http://dhamma.ru/canon/sn46-51.htm

'And what are the qualities that... lead to the culmination of the seven factors for Awakening?'

'The four frames of reference...'

SN 46.6 http://www.accesstoinsight.org/lib/authors/thanissaro/wings/part2.html#part2-g

On one occasion the Venerable Sariputta was dwelling at Savatthi in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Park. There the Venerable Sanputta addressed the bhikkhus thus:
"Friends, bhikkhus'"

"Friend," they replied.

The Venerable Sanputta said this: "Friends, there are these seven factors of enlightenment What seven? The enlightenment factor of mindfulness, the enlightenment factor of discrimination of states, the enlightenment factor of energy, the enlightenment factor of rapture, the enlightenment factor of tranquillity, the enlightenment factor of concentration, the enlightenment factor of equanimity These are the seven factors of enlightenment.

"Whichever of these seven factors of enlightenment I want to dwell in during the morning, I dwell in that factor of enlightenment during the morning Whichever I want to dwell in during the middle of the day, I dwell in that factor of enlightenment during the middle of the day Whichever I want to dwell in during the evening, I dwell in that factor of enlightenment during the evening.

"If, friends, it occurs to me, '[Let it be] the enlightenment factor of mindfulness', it occurs to me, 'It's measureless', it occurs to me, 'It's fully perfected ' While it persists, I understand, 'It persists ' If it abates in me, I understand, 'It has abated in me for a particular reason.'

"If, friends, it occurs to me, '[Let it be] the enlightenment factor of equanimity', it occurs to me, 'It's measureless'; it occurs to me, 'It's fully perfected.' While it persists, I understand, 'It persists.' But if it abates in me, I understand, 'It has abated in me for a particular reason.'

"Suppose, friends, a king or a royal minister had a wardrobe full of differently coloured clothes. Whatever suit he might want to wear in the morning he would wear in the morning. Whatever suit he might want to wear during the middle of the day he would wear during the middle of the day. Whatever suit he might want to wear in the evening he would wear in the evening.

So too, friends, whichever of these seven factors of enlightenment I want to dwell in during the morning ... during the middle of the day ... during the evening, I dwell in that factor of enlightenment during the evening.

"If, friends, it occurs to me, '[Let it be] the enlightenment factor of mindfulness' ... (all as above) ... I understand, 'It has abated in me for a particular reason.'"

http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/mn/mn.019.than.html

"Idha tvaṃ, mahānāma, tathāgataṃ anussareyyāsi– 'itipi so bhagavā ...pe... satthā devamanussānaṃ buddho bhagavā'ti. Yasmiṃ, mahānāma, samaye ariyasāvako tathāgataṃ anussarati, nevassa tasmiṃ samaye rāgapariyuṭṭhitaṃ cittaṃ hoti, na dosapariyuṭṭhitaṃ cittaṃ hoti, na mohapariyuṭṭhitaṃ cittaṃ hoti; ujugatamevassa tasmiṃ samaye cittaṃ hoti tathāgataṃ ārabbha. Ujugatacitto  kho  pana,  mahānāma,  ariyasāvako labhati atthavedaṃ, labhati dhammavedaṃ, labhati dhammūpasaṃhitaṃ pāmojjaṃ. Pamuditassa pīti jāyati, pītimanassa kāyo passambhati, passaddhakāyo  sukhaṃ  vediyati,  sukhino  cittaṃ  samādhiyati. Imaṃ kho tvaṃ, mahānāma, buddhānussatiṃ  gacchantopi bhāveyyāsi, ṭhitopi bhāveyyāsi, nisinnopi bhāveyyāsi, sayānopi bhāveyyāsi,  kammantaṃ  adhiṭṭhahantopi  bhāveyyāsi, puttasambādhasayanaṃ ajjhāvasantopi bhāveyyāsi.

"There is the case where you recollect the Tathagata: 'Indeed, the Blessed One is worthy and rightly self-awakened, consummate in knowledge & conduct, well-gone, an expert with regard to the world, unexcelled as a trainer for those people fit to be tamed, the Teacher of divine & human beings, awakened, blessed.' At any time when a disciple of the noble ones is recollecting the Tathagata, his mind is not overcome with passion, not overcome with aversion, not overcome with delusion. His mind heads straight, based on the Tathagata. And when the mind is headed straight, the disciple of the noble ones gains a sense of the goal, gains a sense of the Dhamma, gains joy connected with the Dhamma. In one who is joyful, rapture arises. In one who is rapturous, the body grows calm. One whose body is calmed experiences ease. In one at ease, the mind becomes concentrated.

"Mahanama, you should develop this recollection of the Buddha while you are walking, while you are standing, while you are sitting, while you are lying down, while you are busy at work, while you are resting in your home crowded with children.

http://dhamma.ru/canon/sn46-51.htm

http://dhamma.ru/canon/sn46-51.htm

I thought: 'I recall once, when my father the Sakyan was working, and I was sitting in the cool shade of a rose-apple tree, then -- quite withdrawn from sensuality, withdrawn from unskillful mental qualities -- I entered & remained in the first jhana: rapture & pleasure born from withdrawal, accompanied by directed thought & evaluation. Could that be the path to Awakening?' Then, following on that memory, came the realization: 'That is the path to Awakening.' I thought: 'So why am I afraid of that pleasure that has nothing to do with sensuality, nothing to do with unskillful mental qualities?' I thought: 'I am no longer afraid of that pleasure that has nothing to do with sensuality, nothing to do with unskillful mental qualities, but it is not easy to achieve that pleasure with a body so extremely emaciated. Suppose I were to take some solid food: some rice & porridge.' So I took some solid food: some rice & porridge. Now five monks had been attending on me, thinking, 'If Gotama, our contemplative, achieves some higher state, he will tell us.' But when they saw me taking some solid food -- some rice & porridge -- they were disgusted and left me, thinking, 'Gotama the contemplative is living luxuriously. He has abandoned his exertion and is backsliding into abundance.'

"So when I had taken solid food and regained strength, then -- quite withdrawn from sensuality, withdrawn from unskillful mental qualities, I entered & remained in the first jhana...

http://www.accesstoinsight.org/canon/sutta/majjhima/mn036.html

3.  "One should not pursue sensual pleasure...and one should not pursue self-mortification, which is painful, ignoble, and unbeneficial.  The Middle Way discovered by the Tathagata avoids both extremes; giving vision, giving knowledge, it leads to peace, to direct knowledge, to enlightenment, to Nibbana...

9. ..."One should know how to define pleasure, and knowing that, one should pursue pleasure within oneself"..."Here bhikkhus, quite secluded from sensual pleasures, secluded from unwholesome states, a bhikkhu enter upon and resides in the first (absorption) jhana"... (through 4th jhana).  "This is called the bliss of renunciation, the bliss of seclusion, the bliss of peace, the bliss of enlightenment.  I say of this kind of pleasure that it should be pursued, that it should be developed, that it should be cultivated, and that it should not be feared."

"So it was in reference to this that I said, 'One should know how to define pleasure, and knowing that, one should pursue pleasure within oneself."

13.  Here, bhikkhus, the bliss of renunciation, the bliss of seclusion, the bliss of peace, the bliss of enlightenment, is a state without suffering (dukkha)... and it is the right way.  Therefore this is a state without conflict."

(Majjhima Nikaya trans. Bhikkhus Nanamoli & Bodhi, Wisdom, 1995)

Jhanasamyutta, SN 9.53

"Bhikkhus, just as the River Ganges slants, slopes and inclines toward the East, so too a bhikkhu who develops and cultivates the four absorptions (jhanas) slants, slopes, and inclines toward nibbana."

(Samyutta Nikaya trans. Bhikkhu Bodhi, Wisdom, 2000)

4. Then again, O bhikkhus, a bhikkhu has development (of wholesome mental states) as a source of happiness and he delights in it; he has abandoning (of evil mental states) as a source of happiness and he delights in it.

http://www.accesstoinsight.org/lib/bps/wheels/wheel083.html#app

The Tathagata enjoys non-ill will, delights in non-ill will. To him -- enjoying non-ill will, delighting in non-ill will -- this thought often occurs: 'By this activity I harm no one at all, whether weak or firm.'

"The Tathagata enjoys seclusion, delights in seclusion. To him -- enjoying seclusion, delighting in seclusion -- this thought often occurs: 'Whatever is unskillful is abandoned.'

"Thus, monks, you too should live enjoying non-ill will, delighting in non-ill will. To you -- enjoying non-ill will, delighting in non-ill will -- this thought will often occur: 'By this activity we harm no one at all, whether weak or firm.'

"You too should live enjoying seclusion, delighting in seclusion.

Alert

http://www.accesstoinsight.org/canon/sutta/majjhima/mn-019-tb0.html

http://dhamma.ru/canon/sn46-51.htm

Step 1: Relabel

Relabeling means calling the deceptive thoughts, urges, impulses, desires and sensations what they are.

Step 2: Reframe

Reframing asks you to change your perception of the importance of the deceptive brain messages.

Step 3: Refocus your attention on something healthy and constructive

Refocusing means directing your attention toward an activity or mental process that is wholesome and productive - even while the urges, thoughts, impulses, and sensations are present and bothering you.

Step 4: Revalue the entire experience as nothing but the feeling of a false thought or unhelpful urge bubbling up from your brain that you do not have to act on or take at face value.

Revaluing also helps strengthen your Wise Advocate and it healthy messages.

The Wise Advocate is who is making the decisions in the beginning about what is wholesome or unwholesome, good or bad, healthy or unhealthy.

"The practices that were common to all three versions were those that focused on overcoming the hindrances and cultivating the awakening factors. The emphasis is not so much on reflecting on the teachings, the Dharma, but really on putting them into practice, really going for awakening. As a result of this discovery I have developed a new approach to the practice of satipaṭṭhāna which I have found to be very powerful, and this would never have happened if I had not done the academic groundwork first."

They arise within the practice of the last three factors of the Noble Eightfold Path [right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration], guided by right view; but they represent this segment of this path in finer detail, with recognition of the contrasting qualities that must be brought into delicate balance for the path to yield its fruits.

First one attends mindfully to an object of meditation, generally selected from among the four objective bases of mindfulness (body, feelings, mind, phenomena): this is the enlightenment factor of mindfulness (sati-sambojjhaṅga).

As mindfulness becomes steady, one learns to discern the object's features more clearly, and can also distinguish between the wholesome and unwholesome states of mind that arise within the process of contemplation: the enlightenment factor of discrimination of states (dhammavicaya-sambojjhaṅga).

This fires one's efforts: the enlightenment factor of energy (viriya-sambojjhaṅga).

From energy applied to the work of mental purification joy arises and escalates: the enlightenment factor of rapture (pīti-sambojjhaṅga).

With the refinement of rapture the body and mind calm down: the enlightenment factor of tranquillity (passaddhi-sambojjhaṅga).

The tranquil mind is easily unified: the enlightenment factor of concentration (samādhi-sambojjhaṅga).

One looks on evenly at the concentrated mind: the enlightenment factor of equanimity (upekkhā-sambojjhaṅga).

As each subsequent factor arises, those already arise do not disappear but remain alongside it as its adjuncts (though rapture inevitably subsides as concentration deepens). Thus, at the mature stage of development, all seven factors are present simultaneously, each making its own distinctive contribution.

"Monks, the idea of impermanence if cultivated and made much of, is of great fruit and great profit.
And how cultivated and made much of is the idea of impermanence of great fruit and great profit?
Herein a monk cultivates the limb of wisdom that is mindfulness, accompanied by the idea of impermanence which is based on seclusion, on dispassion, on cessation, which ends in self-surrender.
He cultivates the limb of wisdom that is investigation of the Norm, accompanied by the idea of impermanence which is based on seclusion, on dispassion, on cessation, which ends in self-surrender.
He cultivates the limb of wisdom that is energy, accompanied by the idea of impermanence which is based on seclusion, on dispassion, on cessation, which ends in self-surrender.
He cultivates the limb of wisdom that is zest, accompanied by the idea of impermanence which is based on seclusion, on dispassion, on cessation, which ends in self-surrender.

407. Nine ideas rooted in gladness: When he gives attention [to an object] as impermanent gladness springs up in him; when he is glad happiness springs up in him; when his mind is happy his body becomes tranquil; when his body is tranquil he feels pleasure; when he has pleasure his cognizance becomes concentrated; when his cognizance is concentrated he knows and sees correctly; when he knows and sees correctly he becomes dispassionate; when he becomes dispassionate his greed fades away; with the fading away of greed he is liberated. When he gives attention [to an object] as painful ...When he gives attention [to an object] as not-self ... with the fading away of greed he is liberated.

409. Nine ideas rooted in careful attention. (D iii 288)
When he gives attention [to an object] as impermanent gladness springs up in him; when he is glad happiness springs up in him; when he is happy his body becomes tranquil; when his body is tranquil he feels pleasure; when he has pleasure his cognizance becomes concentrated; with his concentrated cognizance he understands correctly 'This is suffering', he understands correctly 'This is the origin of suffering', he understands correctly 'This is the cessation of suffering', he understands correctly 'This is the way leading to the cessation of suffering'. When he gives attention [to an object] as painful... When he gives attention [to an object] as not-self gladness springs up in him; ... he understands correctly 'This is the way leading to the cessation of suffering'.

- при использовании той или иной из четырех сатипаттхан;
- и при выборе той или иной опоры (развития самадхи), или участка (двухмерного) обусловленного возникновения, и одного из семи распознаваний (для развития способности познания);
- развиваются семь предпосылок Постижения;
- с учетом наличия тех или иных помех и состояния ума;
- так, чтобы постепенно охватывалось всё тело;
