The Buddhist Scholars Information Network (H-Buddhism) serves as a medium for the exchange of information regarding academic resources, new research projects, scholarly publications, university job listings, and so forth, for specialists in Buddhist Studies who are currently affiliated with academic institutions. It is not a list intended for general discussions of issues regarding Buddhism as a religion, philosophy, practice, or lifestyle (there is a wide variety of lists on the Internet that already serve this purpose), nor a list where non-specialists may pose queries. People who are not specialists in Buddhist Studies can access messages from H-Buddhism through this web site, but they can neither subscribe nor post their own messages.

Hartridge monastery is a sanctuary in rural Devon, comprising 22 acres of land with a pond and new woodland, and accommodation based around an old farmhouse. The monastery is the residence for a small community of monks and novices practising in the Theravada tradition. The monks live as alms-mendicants, following a discipline based on guidelines established by the Buddha.

Although the monastery is primarily a place of monastic training for monks, visitors and guests are also welcome, to share the lifestyle of the community.

A group to explore and share the Buddha’s meditations and liberating insights

Suitable for those who have a practice or are comfortable sitting for 40 mins. We welcome beginners to sit with us but please be aware we don’t have a regular teacher who can provide introductory sessions. You can however find a number of introduction to meditation talks and guided meditations online (see suggested links below for examples).

Insight-Vipassana is the liberating process of seeing deeply into the way things are. The Buddha's teachings allow us to cultivate inner calmness and wellbeing in order to directly perceive the habitual patterns of mind that create stress. When we see these limitations we are free to open and explore a creative life. Heart Insight is a group suitable for those who are interested in developing liberating meditation practices and insights.

Hillside Hermitage is a small hermitage for Buddhist monks of the Theravada Forest Tradition. It’s located near the Knuckles mountain range in central Sri Lanka. Founded few years ago by Ajahn Nyanamoli Thero (Ninoslav Molnar) , (who has received his Upasampada ordination in the Thai Forest Meditation Tradition over ten years ago) and Venerable Thaniyo Bhikkhu, who joined him shortly afterwards. Venerable Thaniyo received his Upasampada over half a dozen of years ago in the same Forest meditation tradition of Thailand. Couple of years later, Venerable Pannaratana Bhikkhu, originally ordained by the Most Venerable Bhante Henepola Gunaratana at Bhavana Society in USA, has also joined the Hillside Hermitage Sangha.

First, it is an exceptionally comprehensive discussion of Indian Buddhism, treating its history, doctrine, and bibliography with an admirable degree of completeness. Most of the significant topics in Indian Buddhism are discussed in some detail. Second, it is a very clearly written text. Because Hirakawa wrote it with students as the intended audience, he composed it in a style that could be readily understood by students and informed general readers.
